What should the driver do to secure the vehicle when changing a front nearside (left-hand side) wheel?

Explantion: If a driver has to change a front nearside (left-hand side) wheel, make sure to do it in a safe place on level ground. Take care, wear high visibility vest/jacket, use a warning triangle and hazard warning lights as appropriate. The vehicle should be secured by applying the parking brake (hand brake), switching off the engine, engaging a low gear and using a wheel chock if necessary. If unfamiliar with how to change a wheel seek assistance from a competent person.
