What should a driver do if there is a large oil spill on the road?

Maintain normal speed in a lower gear and switch on hazard warning lights.
Reduce speed by gently applying the brakes and switch on the hazard warning lights.
Maintain normal speed and try to drive on the spill with the wheels.
Depress the clutch and brake sharply and switch on the hazard warning lights.

Explantion: Where oil is spilt on the road, your tyres will have reduced grip, and you might be at risk of skidding if you brake sharply. If you do come across oil on the road, brake gently and switch on your hazard warning lights for a short period to alert other traffic to the hazard.
