When another vehicle is following too closely.
When driving on the hard shoulder.
When the vehicle is towing a trailer.
When the vehicle has broken down.

Explantion: If your vehicle breaks down on a motorway, drive it to the hard shoulder and switch on the hazard warning lights to warn following traffic. When it is safe to do so, get out of the vehicle and move behind the barrier. Call for assistance from a motorway emergency phone or using a mobile phone (call the Gardaí).
